Individual Profile — Mark Zuckerberg
Research Corpus Note: This document draws on the DOJ Epstein Files corpus. The DOJ Epstein Files release spans approximately 3.5 million pages across ~900,229 unique documents. Of these, text was successfully extracted from 900,196 documents (covering virtually the full corpus) through OCR and PDF text-extraction processing. All EFTA citations refer to documents in this extracted corpus unless otherwise noted.
Evidence Tier: B — Multiple primary documents confirming attendance at the August 2, 2015 Baume Restaurant dinner, active post-dinner contact request, and appearance in a science gathering document alongside Epstein-connected figures (Pinker, Nowak). Evidence is concentrated in a narrow August 2015 window with one ancillary document. No victim allegations. Contact appears to have been Zuckerberg-initiated in its follow-up phase.
Who They Are
Mark Elliot Zuckerberg (born May 14, 1984) is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Meta Platforms, Inc. — the corporate entity controlling Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads. With an estimated net worth exceeding $100 billion, Zuckerberg is consistently among the five wealthiest people on Earth. He co-founded Facebook from his Harvard dormitory in February 2004 alongside Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, dropping out of Harvard later that year. Facebook became the dominant global social network, reaching over 3 billion monthly active users across its platforms by the mid-2020s.
Zuckerberg has been a central and frequently embattled figure in debates about social media's effects on democracy, privacy, mental health, and political discourse. Facebook (later Meta) was implicated in the Cambridge Analytica data scandal (2018), accused of facilitating Russian election interference (2016), scrutinised for its role in radicalisation and the spread of misinformation globally, and hauled before the U.S. Congress for repeated oversight hearings. In January 2025, Zuckerberg announced significant changes to Meta's content moderation policies, eliminating third-party fact-checking in the U.S. and relaxing several content restrictions — a move widely interpreted as an alignment with the political agenda of the incoming Trump administration. He also attended Trump's inauguration events.
Zuckerberg attended the August 2, 2015 private dinner at Baume Restaurant in Palo Alto — an event at which Jeffrey Epstein was present — and subsequently requested Epstein's personal contact details through staff intermediaries. He also appears in a separate Epstein corpus document listing him alongside major internet figures (Jimmy Wales, Evan Williams) and in a science gathering document that places him with Epstein-connected scientists including Steven Pinker and Martin Nowak.
Connection to Epstein — Overview
Mark Zuckerberg's documented connection to Jeffrey Epstein centres on the August 2, 2015 private dinner at Baume Restaurant in Palo Alto, California. The dinner was organised through Reid Hoffman's network, with Hoffman's assistant Saida Sapieva coordinating logistics. The guest list included Epstein, Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Joichi Ito, and several others. The restaurant was exclusively reserved for the group.
Following the dinner, Zuckerberg's contact with Epstein did not end. The corpus documents a proactive post-dinner outreach by Zuckerberg himself: at the dinner, Zuckerberg requested that Epstein's contact details be sent to him. An email from Epstein's assistant on August 5, 2015 transmitted Epstein's contact information to Zuckerberg's assistant Andrea Besmehn, who acknowledged receipt on August 6, 2015. On the same day, Reid Hoffman emailed both Epstein and Zuckerberg together, establishing an ongoing three-way communication in the immediate post-dinner period.
Beyond the Baume dinner, Zuckerberg appears in a separate document (EFTA01992698) alongside Mark Zuckerberg's name in a context that places him with Epstein-associated scientists including Steven Pinker, Martin Nowak, Michael Gazzaniga, and Vilayanur Ramachandran — figures who appear repeatedly in the Epstein corpus in connection with science dinners, Harvard events, and Epstein's intellectual network.
Documented Role in the Epstein Investigation / Network
Mark Zuckerberg appears in the Epstein corpus in two distinct document clusters: the August 2015 Baume dinner and its immediate follow-up, and a science/internet figure list document. The August 2015 cluster is the more significant.
1. Baume Restaurant Dinner — August 2, 2015 (EFTA00344562, EFTA01749568, EFTA02073963) The dinner at Baume Restaurant, 201 S California Ave, Palo Alto, California was held on Sunday, August 2, 2015. It was organised through Reid Hoffman's assistant, Saida Sapieva. EFTA00344562 (July 31, 2015) contains the original dinner invitation confirmation with the verbatim final guest list:
"Ed Boyden, Desiree Dudley, Reid Hoffman, Michelle Yee, Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, Peter Thiel, Tana Powell, Elon Musk, Talulah Riley, Jeffrey Epstein, Joi Ito..."
The document confirms: "We bought out the restaurant, so it will just be our group." Zuckerberg attended with his wife Priscilla Chan, who co-chairs the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. EFTA01749568 and EFTA02073963 contain corresponding arrangements and logistics documents for the same event. EFTA02074143 documents Epstein's engagement with the guest list, writing: "instead of two jefferey epstein, isnt joi ito coming" — confirming Epstein was an active participant in organising the event, not merely an incidental attendee.
2. Zuckerberg Requests Epstein's Contact Details — August 5–6, 2015 (EFTA02074070, EFTA02074145) EFTA02074070 (Wednesday, August 5, 2015, 3:19 PM) is an email from Epstein's assistant to Zuckerberg's assistant Andrea Besmehn. The full subject line reads: "Jeffrey Epstein (Hoffman & Thiel Dinner Party)." The body states: "Jeffrey Epstein attended Reid Hoffman/Peter Thiel's dinner party this past Sunday night at Baume Restaurant. At the party Mark requested Jeffrey send his contact details to him... could you please pass the below on to Mark?" This document establishes that Zuckerberg himself — not an intermediary — asked for Epstein's personal contact information at the dinner. Epstein's office then transmitted those details through the standard assistant-to-assistant channel.
EFTA02074145 (Thursday, August 6, 2015, 11:12 PM) is the reply from Andrea Besmehn to Epstein's assistant and Jeffrey Epstein (CCed): "Noted, with thanks." This brief acknowledgment confirms that Zuckerberg's office received Epstein's contact details.
3. Post-Dinner Three-Way Communication — August 5, 2015 (EFTA01789503) On August 5, 2015 — the same day as the contact-details transmission — Reid Hoffman sent an email to both Jeffrey Epstein and Mark Zuckerberg together. This three-way communication (Hoffman, Epstein, Zuckerberg) in the immediate aftermath of the dinner establishes that the relationship was not merely a one-off social encounter but was being actively managed by Hoffman as a continuing connection.
4. Internet Figure List Document (EFTA00731260) A separate document in the corpus lists: "Jimmy Wales / Evan Williams / Mark Zuckerberg" — placing Zuckerberg on a list alongside Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia founder) and Evan Williams (Twitter/Blogger co-founder). The nature of this document — whether a meeting list, an introduction plan, or a contacts compilation — is not fully clear from the available chunk, but it establishes Zuckerberg's name appearing in an Epstein document alongside other prominent internet platform founders beyond the Baume dinner context.
5. Science Gathering with Pinker, Nowak, Gazzaniga, Ramachandran (EFTA01992698) EFTA01992698 contains a document listing: "Mark Zuckerberg / Who: MICHAEL GAZZANIGA - MARTIN NOWAK - STEVEN PINKER - VILAYANUR S. RAMACHANDRAN." This document places Zuckerberg in the context of a science gathering or event that also prominently featured figures who appear repeatedly in the Epstein corpus: Martin Nowak (Harvard evolutionary mathematician, Epstein-funded researcher), Steven Pinker (Harvard cognitive scientist, present at Epstein events), and Vilayanur Ramachandran (UCSD neuroscientist). The document may represent an Epstein-adjacent science dinner or an event at which Epstein was seeking to introduce Zuckerberg to members of his scientific network.
Allegations and Claims
No victim has made public allegations of criminal sexual conduct against Mark Zuckerberg. The concerns arising from the documentary record are contextual:
1. Proactive contact-seeking at the Baume dinner The most significant documented fact is not Zuckerberg's presence at the dinner — which could plausibly be attributed to a Hoffman social invitation — but his personal request for Epstein's contact details at the dinner. Zuckerberg initiated the follow-up relationship. The corpus does not document what, if anything, resulted from Epstein's contact details being transmitted to Zuckerberg.
2. Context of the dinner: Zuckerberg as tech power broker The August 2015 dinner occurred at a period of significant Facebook growth and increasing regulatory scrutiny. Epstein's documented pattern was to cultivate individuals at the apex of powerful institutions. Zuckerberg's attendance, alongside Thiel, Musk, Ito, and Hoffman, represents a concentration of power over global information infrastructure — Facebook, Tesla/SpaceX, PayPal/Palantir, MIT Media Lab — in a single private dinner with Epstein present.
3. Science network overlap EFTA01992698 suggests Zuckerberg may have appeared in Epstein-adjacent science gathering contexts, alongside figures (Nowak, Pinker, Ramachandran) who were documented attendees at Epstein's science dinners and Harvard science events. The nature and extent of this overlap requires further investigation.
4. No evidence of subsequent contact Beyond August 2015, no further Zuckerberg–Epstein correspondence or meeting has been identified in the extracted corpus. The relationship appears, on current evidence, to have been a single dinner event plus follow-up, with no documented escalation into repeated private meetings of the kind documented for Thiel, Ito, or Ruemmler.
This Individual's Response
No specific public statement from Mark Zuckerberg or Meta's communications team about the Epstein files has been publicly reported as of the date of this document. Meta has not issued a statement addressing Zuckerberg's appearance in the corpus. Zuckerberg has not been questioned about this matter in Congressional hearings or other public forums where he has testified.
Legal and Professional Consequences
No criminal charges, civil suits, or formal investigations targeting Mark Zuckerberg in connection with Jeffrey Epstein have been publicly announced. Zuckerberg has continued as CEO of Meta through the period of the DOJ Epstein Files release. Any political consequences of the Epstein connection have not manifested in reporting as of the date of this document.

DOJ File Evidence
Claim A — Baume Dinner Attendance, August 2, 2015
Verdict: SUPPORTS ✅
EFTA00344562 (July 31, 2015) contains the verbatim guest list for the Baume Restaurant dinner: "Ed Boyden, Desiree Dudley, Reid Hoffman, Michelle Yee, Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, Peter Thiel, Tana Powell, Elon Musk, Talulah Riley, Jeffrey Epstein, Joi Ito..." The document confirms the restaurant was bought out for the group. EFTA01749568 and EFTA02073963 are companion logistics and arrangement documents. Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan are explicitly named as attendees. EFTA02074143 shows Epstein engaging with guest list composition, confirming his active role in the event.
Claim B — Zuckerberg Personally Requested Epstein's Contact Details
Verdict: SUPPORTS ✅
EFTA02074070 (August 5, 2015, 3:19 PM) is the email from Epstein's assistant to Zuckerberg's assistant Andrea Besmehn, subject: "Jeffrey Epstein (Hoffman & Thiel Dinner Party)." The key line: "At the party Mark requested Jeffrey send his contact details to him." This document is unambiguous: Zuckerberg himself — identified by first name — made a personal request at the dinner for Epstein's contact information. The direction of initiation runs from Zuckerberg toward Epstein, not the reverse.
Claim C — Contact Details Transmitted and Acknowledged
Verdict: SUPPORTS ✅
EFTA02074145 (August 6, 2015, 11:12 PM) is Andrea Besmehn's reply to Epstein's assistant, CCing Jeffrey Epstein: "Noted, with thanks." This two-word acknowledgment confirms that Zuckerberg's office received Epstein's personal contact details. The CC to Epstein himself on the acknowledgment indicates Epstein was monitoring the exchange.
Claim D — Three-Way Post-Dinner Communication: Hoffman–Zuckerberg–Epstein
Verdict: SUPPORTS ✅
EFTA01789503 (August 5, 2015) is an email from Reid Hoffman addressed to both Jeffrey Epstein and Mark Zuckerberg in the immediate aftermath of the dinner. The simultaneous inclusion of Zuckerberg and Epstein on a Hoffman email establishes an active triangle of social contact — Hoffman as the connective node — in the days following the dinner.
Claim E — Internet Figure List: Wales, Williams, Zuckerberg
Verdict: SUPPORTS ✅
EFTA00731260 contains a list including "Jimmy Wales / Evan Williams / Mark Zuckerberg" in a document from Epstein's files. Jimmy Wales co-founded Wikipedia (2001) and is a prominent internet governance figure. Evan Williams co-founded Blogger and Twitter. The presence of all three on a single list suggests Epstein was tracking or planning engagement with the founders of the major internet platforms of the 2000s as a cluster. The document context does not establish whether a meeting occurred or whether this is a contact or planning list.
Claim F — Science Gathering with Pinker, Nowak, Gazzaniga, Ramachandran
Verdict: PARTIAL ⚠️
EFTA01992698 lists "Mark Zuckerberg / Who: MICHAEL GAZZANIGA - MARTIN NOWAK - STEVEN PINKER - VILAYANUR S. RAMACHANDRAN" in a document from the Epstein corpus. Martin Nowak is a Harvard evolutionary biologist and mathematician who received significant Epstein funding and appears throughout the corpus as a regular at Epstein events. Steven Pinker (Harvard cognitive scientist) appears in Epstein's correspondence and is a documented attendee at Epstein's Cambridge and New York science gatherings. Michael Gazzaniga (cognitive neuroscientist) and Vilayanur Ramachandran (neuroscientist) also appear in Epstein's science network documents. Zuckerberg's appearance on this list suggests potential attendance at an Epstein-adjacent science event, but the document context is not sufficient to confirm a confirmed meeting with Epstein present. This claim is classified as PARTIAL — corroborating context exists, but direct confirmation requires the full document.
Summary Assessment
Mark Zuckerberg's presence in the DOJ Epstein corpus is concentrated but unambiguous at its core: he attended the August 2015 Baume dinner, and he personally sought Epstein's contact details at that event. The additional documents — the internet figure list (EFTA00731260) and the science gathering document (EFTA01992698) — expand the picture beyond a single dinner, suggesting Zuckerberg appeared in Epstein's orbit in multiple document contexts.
- The contact-request is the critical fact. Attendance at the Baume dinner could be explained as a Hoffman social invitation in which Epstein's presence was incidental or unknown to Zuckerberg. But the post-dinner request for Epstein's personal contact details — characterised explicitly as "Mark requested" — indicates Zuckerberg wished to continue the relationship independently of Hoffman's mediation. This single documented act distinguishes Zuckerberg from individuals who merely attended the same social event.
- The connection is narrow by corpus evidence. Unlike Thiel (2014–2016, multiple meetings, travel coordination) or Ito (2013–2018, financial arrangements, multiple documented visits), the Zuckerberg–Epstein connection visible in the corpus is concentrated in a brief August 2015 window. No subsequent meetings between Zuckerberg and Epstein have been confirmed in the extracted corpus.
- The science cluster document warrants further investigation. EFTA01992698 places Zuckerberg alongside Epstein-core scientists at what appears to be a gathering. This document has not been fully contextualised and may reveal additional contact beyond the Baume dinner if examined in full.
- No criminal allegations exist. No victim has alleged that Zuckerberg participated in, facilitated, or was aware of Epstein's criminal activities.
Evidence Tier B. Six claims: five SUPPORTED, one PARTIAL.
